Curious about how decisions get made in Acton?
Once a year, at Acton‘s annual Town Meeting, Acton voters gather to approve (or amend, or deny) proposed bylaws and major budget items. When I went last year, I had a blast hearing impassioned speeches from fellow Actonians about why we should, or shouldn‘t, pass new zoning laws or approve new budgetary spending. And I got to make my voice heard shouting "yea" or "nay" with my vote!
Most years, there aren‘t many parents of young children who attend (let‘s face it, we tend to be pretty busy). That‘s why ABFN is encouraging you to come to town meeting this year. Let‘s sit together and the more experienced attendees can help guide the newer folks through the procedures.
For more information on Town Meeting and the agenda this year see: https://www.acton-ma.gov/599/Town-Meeting
Note: ABFN does not hold any political opinions and does not try to influence you to vote any particular way - just to show up!
Acton address of yoga location will be sent out to the registrants separately.
Anyone else need a breather? Maybe one parent attends, maybe both parents attend, and they find a sitter for while kiddos are sleeping...
Join fellow ABFN members for a gentle yoga flow, with some restorative poses. Jill Rodgers ("SomerJill") is Maddie‘s favorite yoga teacher from Somerville and Boston, and Maddie is thrilled that Jill made time to come out to the ‘burbs. www.somerjill.com Jill is truly one of the best in Boston, and has a way of sharing her anatomical and yogic expertise in an accessible and thoughtful way.
Please bring a yoga mat, blocks & blanket (if you have them), and a water bottle.
Address of yoga will be shared with the registrants.
Address to be provided to those registered
Join other moms for a night of local theatre! Hairspray the Musical is presented by The Umbrella Arts Center in Concord, MA.
Hairspray, the Tony award winning musical based on the John Waters film, is a 1960s musical piled bouffant-high with revolutionary joy. Tracy Turnblad’s dream to dance on the Corny Collins Show has come true, but this determined teen won’t just do the twist and the mashed potato: she’ll use her star power to integrate Baltimore’s TV network to a swingin’ soundtrack! The Color Purple choreographer Najee Brown makes his Umbrella directing debut with this big-hearted celebration of what happens when everyone gets a chance to dance.
